We work with you to provide the best possible whole-system solutions for your energy needs.
With our sole focus on producing electricity from renewable energy sources, we are able to keep abreast of the latest viable technology and market trends. We design systems in-house from the ground up, meeting the needs of each client and our extreme high altitude mountain environment. Whether you are 50 miles from the nearest power line or right downtown, we will work with you to help meet your energy goals.
We are located on Colorado’s Western Slope, in the beautiful Gunnison Valley near Crested Butte. While we specialize in designing and installing robust alternative energy systems for remote locations, we work on many varied projects from off-grid summer cabins to on-grid city dwellings. Our varied clients have included the U.S. EPA, U.S. Forest Service, GCEA, Outward Bound Wilderness, the Crested Butte Nordic Center, many local contractors, ranchers, business owners, and homeowners. We pride ourselves in quality workmanship and carry NABCEP PV Installer Certification.

What we do:
net-metered Solar electric (PV)
We install solar electric systems on new and existing homes and businesses. These PV systems produce electricity when the sun is shining, and will spin your electric meter backwards when producing more energy than your building is consuming. When the sun is not shining, you use electricity from the utility grid and your meter spins forward.
microhydro
If you have water flowing on your property, you might be a candidate for a microhydro power system. Where there is year round flow, and at least 50’ of vertical drop, there is a lot of potential to make power.
off-grid solar electric (pv)
We design and install small independent power plants for homes located away from the utility power grid. We are familiar with the challenges of living off-grid in our harsh winter climate, and design these systems to meet these needs.
pv system upgrades
As the PV industry evolves, and as your energy needs change, it may make sense to expand existing PV systems, upgrade components, or add energy storage. We can help you analyze your options!
small wind
While most of the Gunnison Valley does not have a great wind power resource, small wind systems can make a lot of sense for off-grid systems. When it’s stormy and the sun is not out, it’s often windy. Take advantage to that extra battery charging power with a small wind turbine!
service on existing pv systems
With years of experience building and servicing PV systems in the Gunnison Valley, we can evaluate your current system performance and make recommendations to improve, upgrade, and/or expand your PV system.

““I had the opportunity to be part of an incredible project in which every aspect had sustainable elements. This project will have a Gold LEED Certified rating and we expect it to be a net zero house. Jay and Lena were a big part of our project. I appreciated their attention to detail. Jay and Lena spent a lot of time planning all aspects and sharing them with me to make sure the end product was something we would all be proud of.””
